Let's face it, these days anyone with a computer and a microphone can call themselves a studio. But it is so much more; the acoustics of the recording and mixing space, the variety of microphones and processing gear to select from, the experience of the engineer, and most importantly the comfort level provided in the recording environment. At best it can be described as one of fragile chemistry, and one where feeling free to create is of the utmost importance. As the owner of Electric Eye Recorders, I have been on both sides of “the glassâ€Â, not only as a musician but as a engineer and producer with knowledge of equipment, knowing the questions to ask, how to collaborate and work as a part of your team. I feel it is all about the artists, whether you are a seasoned professional or it is your first time to record in a professional studio, I want you to feel at home.
I will help keep your project on track, within budget, musical and most of all fun and something to feel proud of. Whether it is a single song, demo or complete album project, mixing, editing, production or mastering, let me help make your project a reality. Special package deals are available, affordable rates, and your satisfaction guaranteed at a price you can afford. Contact me and let’s discuss your needs…
About me
I began my musical journey in 1964 when at seventeen my parents bought me my first guitar, at first learning folk songs and then the galvanizing invasion of The Beatles and my path was forever changed. I have been a performing musician, songwriter and recordist ever since, living in Houston, Northern California, Tucson, and finally Austin, Texas, where I started Broken Arrow Studio.
After 18 years in Austin I relocated to Pittsburgh in the heart of Bloomfield and opened Electric Eye Recorders in the fall 2011. In May of 2012 I purchased a property in historic Polish Hill and spent 3 months building out the new space with MLV floating walls, large live room, comfortable mix room and inside and outside areas to get away and relax.
I offer the best of both worlds; analogue tape and digital technologies, state of the art converters, quality outboard gear, a vintage microphone and instrument collection and over 40 years of performing, writing and recording experience.
